Part A — Introductory Macroeconomics (40 marks)

Income and employment: aggregate demand; two-sector determination of income; multiplier.
Government budget: meaning and components; receipts and expenditure; balanced, surplus and deficit budgets.
Open economy: balance of payments; current and capital accounts; foreign exchange; fixed, flexible, and managed floating rates.
Part B — Introductory Microeconomics (40 marks)

Consumer behaviour: utility; budget set and budget line; demand curve and elasticity.
Production and costs: short run and long run; TP, AP, MP; law of variable proportions; returns to scale; short-run and long-run costs.
Perfect competition and market equilibrium: revenue and profit maximisation; short-run and long-run supply; shut-down and break-even; excess demand and supply; price ceiling and floor.
