Topics covered

Relations and Functions (8 marks): types of relations (reflexive, symmetric, transitive, equivalence); one-one and onto functions (3); inverse trigonometric functions — definition, range, domain, principal value, graphs and properties (5).

Algebra (10 marks): matrices — types, operations, transpose, symmetric and skew-symmetric, invertible matrices (5); determinants up to 3×3, minors, cofactors, area of a triangle, adjoint and inverse, solving linear equations in two or three variables (5).

Calculus (35 marks): continuity and differentiability, chain rule, inverse trigonometric, implicit, logarithmic, exponential and parametric derivatives, second-order derivatives (8); applications of derivatives — rate of change, increasing/decreasing functions, maxima and minima (5); integrals by substitution, partial fractions and parts; Fundamental Theorem of Calculus; properties of definite integrals (12); area under simple curves — lines, circles, parabolas, ellipses in standard form (4); differential equations — order and degree, separation of variables, homogeneous first-order, linear form (6).

Vectors and Three-dimensional Geometry (14 marks): vectors, direction cosines and ratios, scalar and vector products (6); Cartesian and vector equation of a line, skew lines, shortest distance, angle between two lines (8).

Linear Programming (5 marks): constraints, objective function, graphical method in two variables, feasible and infeasible regions, optimal solutions.

Probability (8 marks): conditional probability, multiplication theorem, independent events, total probability, Bayes’ theorem.
